The Indian Railways is working to enhance user personalisation of its e-ticketing website IRCTC. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website will be upgraded with new features to make train ticket booking easier for passengers. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said that IRCTC e-ticketing website will have all the features and simple design for ease of booking by the passengers.
On Friday, Goyal reviewed upgradation of the e-ticketing system. He sought that e-ticketing website should provide holistic convenience to the passengers for their train journey.
According to the Railway Minister, the IRCTC ticketing website remains the first contact point of railway passengers. “Under the new digital India, more and more people are now moving towards booking the tickets online rather than going to the reservation counters and therefore IRCTC website needs to really double its efforts to constantly upgrade itself,” said Railway Minister Piyush Goyal.
IRCTC ticketing website of Indian Railways provides the facility of online passenger reservation in the trains being run over IR touching the lives of most citizens for their rail travel needs.
Since 2014 a new emphasis is being given on improving the public experience in the booking of tickets as well as travelling conveniences.

Book now pay later: IRCTC introduced a new postpaid payment option under ‘book now pay later’ category. Booking tickets on IRCTC official website has become easier and hassle-free with this “ePay Later” option. The “ePay later” service is available for both the reserved ticket and tatkal tickets. This new facility for payment of e-tickets is available through ePay Later. Passengers need to pay the ticket charges within 14 days after booking the tickets. If one misses paying the amount within 14 days, he or she has to pay interest of 3.50%, plus applicable taxes.

DISHA chatbot: In order to address queries of passengers round the clock, an artificial intelligence (AI) based chatbot called ‘Ask Disha’ was launched by ITCTC in 2018. The chatbot service is a platform where users can ask train ticket queries and get the answers through the artificial intelligence-based service. The chatbot, apart from text queries, also answeres questions through voice-enabled software in Hindi! The chatbot seeks to answer questions over the enquiry of refund status, cancellation, PNR search, train running status, fare, enquiry about retiring rooms and other tourism services of IRCTC.
