CBSE Board Exams 2021: In 2020, the novel coronavirus had just hit India and that time no one knew that Covid-19 will become a global pandemic. Apart from the economy, it hit the education system also. Last year, CBSE Class 10 Board Exams were over in most of the places barring a few, but the CBSE Class 12, exams 2020 had to be postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak in India.
CBSE Board Exam dates 2021 out
This year, too, the exams are delayed by three months due to the virus which has created havoc all over the world. The much-awaited dates for the CBSE Board Exam 2021 were announced by Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank. The Class 10 and 12 exams will begin on 4 May 2021, and they are scheduled to be concluded by 10 June 2021.
As per the notice released by CBSE, the date sheet for both class 10 and 12 is going to be issued very soon. The results for CBSE class 10 and class 12 board examinations will be declared by 15 July. This was done to cope up with the learning loss in 2020 due to covid-19 impact on schools which remained shut in India since mid-March when a nation-wide lockdown was announced.
The exams will be conducted offline, earlier there were speculations regarding the same being held online this year. The syllabus has also been reduced in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak in the country.
The ministry of education had earlier postponed the examinations. Usually, the practical exams are conducted in January and theory exams begin every year in February and conclude in March.
The delay in CBSE board exams will also affect the higher education calendar in 2021, including those of IITs, engineering schools, and other higher education institutions. The decision of the central board is likely to be considered by other state boards as well. In the academic year of 2018-19, Delhi University had released the first cut-off list for admission to Undergraduate Courses on 19 June. But this year, results of CBSE will be out by mid-July, so they will have to reschedule their admission process.
Last year, over 1.2 million students appeared for class 12 boards, and 1.8 million appeared for class 10 board examinations conducted by the CBSE.
It would be interesting to see how the government is planning to conduct the examinations at centres this year. With the rollout of the vaccine, hopefully, students will be able to attend their regular classes and bid adieu to their online classes which they had to embrace in 2020.
