Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the true well-wisher of farmers. Speaking at a public event in Delhi’s Mehrauli, Shah reiterated that opposition is misleading farmers regarding minimum support price (MSP).
“The Opposition is speaking brazen lies. I again reiterate that MSP will continue and mandis will not be closed. The three farm laws are in favour of the farmers. Nobody can remove the MSP system or snatch farmers’ land from them. The government is ready to hold talks with farmer unions with an open heart,” Shah asserted.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed nine crore farmers from six states via video conferencing. He released the next installment of the financial benefits – ₹18,000 crore – under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN).
What is PM-KISAN scheme
Under this scheme, financial aid of ₹6,000 per year is provided to small and marginal farmers, payable in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each. The fund is transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
